Firies’ fund-raiser

08 Feb, 2012 08:31 AM
Shoppers chomped on sausage sandwiches to help raise money for the Merimbula Rural Fire Service at Tura Beach on Wednesday, January 25.

The sausage sizzle was held in conjunction with Merimbula and Tura Beach Woolworths stores, which donated dollar-for-dollar the money raised.

Shoppers were keen to help support our local firies as $1112 was raised, and with Woolworths’ contribution, the total was $2224.

Woolworths Tura Beach assistant manager Paul Harrison said the sausage sizzle provided an opportunity to support the local volunteers who provide an important community service.

“These volunteers do a lot for our community and being able to support them is important. It’s obvious the community is right behind the firies with the amount of money raised, and with Woolworths’ contribution they have just over an extra $2000 in the kitty,” he said.
