Guests can expect to see unshaven staff at the Merimbula-Imlay Bowling Club this month, but don't fret; the place hasn't gone to the dogs, it's all part of Movember month.
The 'bowlo's lip broom society', made up of 23 dedicated men, are taking part in the worldwide charity Movember.
Dedicated to raising awareness of men's health issues, including prostate cancer and depression, participants are required to start the month clean-shaven and continue to grow a moustache over the course of November.
One local identity Phil Major has stunned everyone, including his wife, by becoming involved. So what you say! Well Phil has sacrificed his moustache after 33 years' service. In fact his children had never seen their father without his mo. The self-sacrifice deserves a coin donation. People wishing to donate can do so at the bowlo.
Club chief executive officer Damian Foley and operations manager Lerrel McDonald are all proud 'bowlo's lip broom society' members.
Team captain Jason Holley said Movember was a fun way of highlighting a serious issue.
"A couple of our workers got involved in Movember last year after prostate cancer touched a few of our members. We thought it would be a bit of fun for a very serious cause," he said.
"Every year 2900 Aussie men die from prostate cancer, a cancer that has a 90 percent cure rate if found and treated early enough.
"One in six men suffer depression, but don't seek help. There is a variety of reasons for this but most notably because of the perception that blokes should just get on with it, but untreated depression can be crippling.
"Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in 18 to 35 year old men. It has grown by over 35 per cent, for no apparent reason, in the past decade. Testicular cancer is highly curable if found and treated early."
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
