A recent meeting was held in the Waterbird Sanctuary at Panboola to undertake a review of the conservation agreement which protects that area of the property.
The Panboola management met with National Parks & Wildlife Service staff to discuss the current Plan of Management for the Waterbird Sanctuary.
The meeting included rapid health assessments for the flora, fauna and wetland environment within the 2-hectare sanctuary. Track maintenance, feral animal control, vegetation management and visitor amenity were appraised, and future work and projects, discussed.
The report on the review authored by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, shows that the management of the Waterbird Sanctuary has kept threats to conservation values at a low level.
Where issues were identified, recommendations have been made to address them and the condition assessments of the vegetation and water bodies were noted as ‘healthy’
