Fire threat to Millingandi homes

Fire crews are currently battling fires at Millingandi and Brogo again. The fire at Millingandi is believed to have started close to power line easements in the vicinity of Boggy Creek Road.

The fire which started at about 1pm, is approximately 5kms west of Merimbula and 2kms west of the Merimbula bypass.

Fire crews warned that some rural properties may come under threat near Upper Boggy Creek Road. Firefighters and aircraft are working to contain the fire. Many residents have chosen to evacuate.

A south westerly change came through at 2.25pm turning the fire back on itself.

People in the area south of Forest Lane have been told to activate their Bush Fire Survival Plan.

Fire crowning near houses is making it too difficult for crews to go near. The fire is travelling towards Wolumla and flame height is between 5-8metres high.
