A man who rode his motor bike to Merimbula Police Station to report an incident will now be walking for a while.
If you’re going to report an incident to the police, it could be considered sensible advice not to roll up to the station smelling of alcohol and acting like you might have had more than one or two drinks, but also it’s a really great idea not to ride your bike there.
However that is exactly what a 54-year-old Merimbula man did on Wednesday, January 30 at 1pm in the afternoon.Sergeant Cliff Scarlett, of Merimbula Police, said that the man attended Merimbula Police Station to report an incident. “He was showing signs of intoxication and was breath tested. His reading was .086 which is mid range and his licence was automatically suspended.”
Woman held over thefts
An 18-year-old Victorian woman was arrested at 4pm on Tuesday, January 29 in relation to a number of thefts from shops in the Merimbula CBD including from Telechoice, Target, Blush, A Touch of Pink, Saltwater Dreaming and Bras ‘n’ Things.
When arrested the woman was in possession of a number of items and Merimbula Police have been talking to retail outlets to locate the owners of the items.
The woman was refused bail at Batemans Bay on January 30. A date for the hearing has not yet been fixed, police said.
Domestic assault charge
A 50-year-old Merimbula woman was arrested on Sunday, February 3 at 6pm in Merimbula in relation to domestic assault.
Police said that protection orders have been put in place and that the woman has been released on strict bail conditions. The woman will appear at Bega Local Court this month. Domestic violence cases are usually heard within two weeks.
P-plater charged
A 21-year-old Merimbula driver was stopped on Reid Street, Merimbula where he was breath tested at 2.20am on Sunday, February 3. The man’s blood/alcohol reading was .053 but should have been zero as he was a P-plater. The man was arrested and will appear at Bega Local Court next month.
