It’s a nerve-racking time for mums and dads as children make their way off to the first day at school. At Pambula Public School there were 45 new pupils in the kindy class and there were a few tears, principal, Mark Thomson admitted. No tears from the children though; it was some parents who shed a few and had to head to the coffee shop for group counselling sessions.
Mr Thomson said that the figure of 45 kinders is above what the school would normally would expect, which is recent years had been closer to 36.
The school has a total enrolment of just over 300 pupils similar to recent years. Mr Thomson said: “We have 12 mainstream and two support classes. This has been the case for quite some years now.”
