The Police Target Action Group has been in action with further cannabis charges laid.
A 54-year-old male from Candelo has been charged with cannabis possession and cultivation after police from the Far South Coast Local Area Command searched the man’s premises at 9am on Sunday, February 24.
Sergeant Cliff Scarlett, of Merimbula Police said that eight cannabis plants were seized.
The arrest follows the seizure of six cannabis plants from a rural property in Candelo on February 7.
The potential street value of plants seized by police is about $14,000.
Sergeant Scarlett said that the cannabis plants were a new variety to the area, being smaller and growing to only 50cm but also being more potent. “The plants have been sent off for analysis to Sydney,” he said.
The Candelo man is due to appear at Bega Local Court in April.
