The iconic Wolumla Hotel has been sold at auction and the new owners, “a well-known Bega Valley family,” will reopen the business “as soon as possible” according to Michael Sturgess of Merimbula real estate business Fisk & Nagle.
The sale, which took place on site on Thursday, October 4, generated strong interest from local and Sydney-based buyers, and on auction day, saw three registered bidders fight it out before the hammer fell.
Mr Sturgess said strong interest in the property saw pre-auction offers being made right up until the auction.
News of the sale has delighted locals from the village who were without their local watering hole for some time.
Mr Sturgess described the sale as a “shot in the arm” for Wolumla and added that the hotel “couldn’t have gone to nicer people”.
